The LIV Golf 2024 teams have been expanded to include a 13th member of the tour, with two individuals also set to compete in each event.

The LIV Golf tour will look a little different in 2024 with the 12 original teams joined by 13th quartet of players captained by newcomer Jon Rahm following his switch from the PGA Tour.

This is also the first year where relegation and promotion impacts the line-up with new faces.

With the traditional 48 man line-up extended to 52 to accommodate Rahm’s team, a further two individual players will compete in each of the 14 events in 2024 to allow LIV to retain the three-ball shotgun format.

The new signings for the 2024 season, include Rahm, Lucas Herbert, Adrian Meronk, Tyrrell Hatton and Caleb Surratt.

Andy Ogletree, Kalle Samooja, Jinichiro Kozuma and Kieran Vincent earned promotion to the tour at the expense of the relegated quartet Jediah Morgan, James Piot, Chase Koepka and Sihwan Kim.

In team switches, 2023 champion Talor Gooch has traded places with Matthew Wolff from Rangegoats to Smash and Peter Uihlein moved from 4Aces to Rangegoats in exchange for Harold Varner III.

Carlos Ortiz has moved from Fireballs to Torque in a swap for David Puig and Graeme McDowell has moved from Cleeks to Smash.

Anthony Kim returned to golf from a 12-year absence in the third event of 2024 and will play as one of the individual players for the rest of the season.

LIV Golf Format

The 52 players are in 13 teams of four and play for individual victory and team victory in each event across three days of competition.

Each tournament takes place across three rounds with shotgun starts each day with players playing in threeballs. That means two additional “individual” players competing to make 18 threeballs.

There is an individual winner of each event and the 13 teams are ranked based on the best two scores from the four players in the first two rounds and three from four in the final round.
