Titleist ProV1 Ball Review

Titleist ProV1

Titleist ProV1 balls are the number one on tour, the winning-most and widely considered to best golf ball on the market.

Around for more than two decades since first debuting in 2000, the latest version of the ProV1 ball was released in 2019 with Titleist adding more distance.

Accompanied by the ProV1x and AVX at the top of the Titleist stable, the ProV1 is used by major winners including Adam Scott, Webb Simpson and Louis Oosthuizen among others.

What Titleist say about the latest ProV1:

“When we set out to develop the 2019 models, we found that golfers at every level are extraordinarily satisfied with the performance of their ProV1 or ProV1x.

“At the same time, golfers keep telling us they would still like more distance – as long as they don’t have to give anything else up.

“Through the prototyping process, our chemists and engineers discovered a way to cast an even thinner urethane cover, and therefore increase the percentage of speed-enhancing materials in the overall construction.

“ProV1 and ProV1x are now even faster, as a result, all while maintaining the scoring performance and feel characteristics that golfers demand from these golf balls.”

Titleist ProV1 Ball Design

The ProV1 ball is the softer of the two options in the range compared to the ProV1x, and provides a penetrating ball flight and optimal spin for most golfers.

Engineered for more speed, Titleist’s exclusive ProV1 Urethane Elastomer cover is now 17% thinner than before to help generate additional ball speed.

Titleist promise that the thinner cover has not resulted in any loss of the Drop-and-Stop technology, which provides the soft feel around the greens.

The ionomeric casing has been thickened by 14% on the ProV1 to help increase ball speed and reduce spin levels. There is also new 2.0 ZG Process Cores with increased stiffness for a higher ball speed.

The traditional white ball is now accompanied by a high optic yellow option for the first time ever in the ProV1 range.

Titleist ProV1 Ball Verdict

The ProV1 needs little introduction. It has been at the top of the game for quite some time and continues to be the number one ball despite TaylorMade and Callaway attempting to topple it.

An extremely consistent performer, the latest ProV1 has been improved further – something that didn’t seem possible – to add more distance.

The fact that Titleist have managed to extract that added distance without sacrificing the very soft feel around the greens has resulted in the best ProV1 yet.

If you are a serious golfer, the ProV1 has to come under consideration. The only negative is the price they cost.
