Adams IDEA Irons Specs & Design

The Adams irons are forgiving and aimed at mid-handicappers or high-handicappers who don’t want to splash out on an expensive set.

The IDEAs have been made to look elegant and sleek, but under the body the technologies are all about forgiveness and helping improve the game of average golfers.

Adams IDEA Irons

The irons are designed with a hollow body construction and a 360 degree undercut, making them perform as a traditional cavity back would.

The undercut is very similar in looks to the TaylorMade P790s, perhaps not surprisingly given that Adams are now part of the same stable.

The face of the IDEA irons has been designed with variable thickness, creating a supreme sweet spot from which the ball really flies and ensuring ball speeds are maintained when struck out of the heel or toe.

Adams IDEA Irons

Adams have come up with a unique design element over the last decade since last launching irons with the creation of the Tri-Sole.

This feature is sees more bounce added to the middle section of the sole and less on the outer edges for improved turf interaction.

The topline is thicker on the IDEA irons, while the lofts are strong with the set running from 4-iron (20 degrees) to A Wedge (50 degrees).

Adams IDEA Irons Review: Are they any good?

Adams were once one of the most popular irons before disappearing off the radar. Well, that is no longer the case and they are back with a bang.

TaylorMade, the new owners, have opted against bringing Adams back as an all singing, all dancing brand and have instead focused on the growing game-improvement sector with the new IDEA range.

The irons are an impressive combination of elements of TaylorMade’s P790 and Stealth irons and offer forgiveness in bucketloads.

With strong lofts, you can expect more distance while also getting plenty of forgiveness not matter how badly you strike it.

What Adams says about the IDEA irons:

“Adams IDEA Irons are designed to look super pro and built to deliver unbelievable performance. These sleek clubs will have everyone in your foursome asking for a swing.

“This club has an ultra-low center of gravity thanks to the hollow-body construction and 360º undercut. It gives you easy launch and stability with every swing.

“The varied face thickness on this club puts the power in the most important parts. So you can blast the ball with a center shot, but the club still delivers speed towards the heel or toe.

“No matter where your ball lies, you can count on these clubs to get you where you want to go. The Tri-Sole Design is engineered to minimize interaction with the ground, so you get a clean shot every time.”
