Honma BERES Aizu Iron Specs & Design

The first thing to note about the BERES Aizu irons are that they are distinctive with the unique patterned design on the clubheads. If Aizu isn’t your thing, you might prefer the equally impressive BERES Black model.

The irons themselves ooze quality, being crafted with a 8620 Forged Body to the highest of standards that Honma strive for.

Honma have introduced an L-Cup design into the BERES range, with an ultra thin face, a low centre of gravity, thicker sole in this model and a high launch throughout the set than to a progressive cavity.

The 3D L-Cup structure, which is present in the 5-iron to 9-iron, helps deliver high initial ball speeds and a high launch angle off the face.

The ultra-thin face has vertical slits incorporated to add strength and produce impressive ball speeds while at the same time offering forgiveness.

The design also features one external and two internal sole slots, and an enlarged cavity design to keep the CG a low as possible.

The irons comes with ARMRQ MX shafts and are available in 5-iron (21 degrees) to Sand Wedge (55 degrees). There is also a 10 and 11-iron in the range in place of a pitching wedge.

There are also four separate Aizu designs to choose from.

Verdict: Are Honma BERES Aizu irons any good?

They are excellent performers with plenty of ball speed, distance, carry and forgiveness in an all-round product.

No stone has been left unturned in the quest to perfect the performance of this premium range and you won’t be disappointed adding these to the bag.

There are two off-putting elements, firstly the price and secondly the Aizu design. This unique look won’t make mass-market appeal, but there are the BERES Black irons if you prefer a more standard look.
