Koivun turned professional in June and has made an immediate impact with a three-shot victory over world number one Scottie Scheffler in the 2026 3M Open.
The American finished on 25-under par at TPC Twin Cities to make the perfect start as a professional following an illustrious collegiate career.
Koivun forfeited his senior year at Auburn University to instead turn professional after the 2026 US Open.
At Auburn, he was the first player to win all four collegiate awards – the Haskins Award, Jack Nicklaus Award, Ben Hogan Award and Phil Mickelson Award – in the same season.
That came after victories in the 2024 Wake Forest Invitational, SEC Championship and Inverness Intercollegiate and 2025 SEC Golf Championship Stroke Play, NCAA Auburn Regional.
Koivun also won the 2026 Amer Ari Invitational, Gators Invitational, The Hayt, Mason Rudolph Championship, Ford Collegiate and SEC Golf Championship Stroke Play.
