Spaun led early at Oakmont but needed birdies in the final two holes – including a monster 64-foot putt on the closing hole – to win the 2025 US Open by two shots.
The American was the only player to finish under par at the incredibly tough Oakmont with his one-under total enough for a two-shot victory over Robert MacIntyre.
It was Spaun’s second victory at elite tour level having previously won the Valero Texas Open in April 2022. He narrowly missed out on the 2025 Players Championship, going down to Rory McIlroy in a play-off.
Spaun’s previous wins came on the now-Korn Ferry Tour in the 2016 News Sentinel Open and on the PGA Tour Canada in the 2015 Staal Foundation Open.
