PXG 0311 GEN8 Irons Featured Upgraded P, T & XP (Reviewed)

PXG 0311 GEN8 Irons Review

The PXG 0311 GEN8 irons are new for 2026 after being unveiled as the eighth generation of the hugely popular model.

The GEN8 irons were officially launched in January 2026 as upgraded 0311 T (tour players iron), 0311 P (players distance iron) and 0311 XP (extreme performance game-improvement iron) were unveiled.

The new irons, which replace the 0311 GEN7 irons first launched in 2024, build upon previous generations by offering forgiveness, distance and high launch characteristics.

Each of the three models target a specific level of golfer from low to high handicap, and they join new PXG Lightning drivers, fairway woods and hybrids for 2026.

Pros & Cons

✅ Dual Perimeter Weighting gives genuine adjustability to tweak heel/toe weights to change swingweight CG and even face-to-path
✅ Forgiveness is excellent across all three heads thanks to higher MOI, toe-biased internal tungsten and ultra-thin faces that keep ball speed up on misses
✅ Feel is notably soft and solid, with the QuantumCOR polymer and forged 8620 bodies giving a more classic 0311 sensation
✅ Better strikes feel powerful rather than harsh and even thin shots avoid the hand‑stinging common in many distance irons
✅ Model coverage is well thought out – T for low‑handicap/workability, P for players distance and dispersion help, XP for outright help with launch and strike quality
❌ Looks will divide opinion: all three models share a bold, industrial PXG aesthetic
❌ XP has a long blade and plenty of offset that some better players will find too chunky at address
❌ Spin can run on the lower side because of the ultra‑thin face and polymer core, so stopping power relies more on launch and descent angle than raw spin
❌ To truly unlock the weighting tech, a proper PXG fitting is almost mandatory
❌ Pricing sits firmly in the premium category

PXG 0311 T GEN8 Irons Specs & Design

The PXG GEN8 T iron is the players’ tour model and is design for elite and low-handicap golfers seeking both workability and forgiveness.

The T is a players cavity-back model targets low-handicap golfers seeking precision and workability, with the slimmest over profile of the three irons.

The blade clubhead has the thinnest topline of the series, minimal offset and the most compact blade length at just 72mm. The blade height has also been optimized from the GEN7 for clean turf interaction.

The HT1770 maraging steel face is the thinnest yet in a PXG iron at just 0.050″ and it delivers maximum flex and ball speed as well as stunning feel and control.

PXG 0311 T GEN8 Irons

A revised design from the previous version have helped deliver a 17% MOI increase over GEN7 and that has been achieved from perimeter weighting with 11g redistributed from center.

The PXG Dual Perimeter Weighting System makes these the most adjustable with 2g to 12g heel and toe weights that can be interchanged to create fade or draw bias and alter the MOI.

A fixed 20g tungsten slug positioned internally in the toe area pulls the center of gravity away from the hosel, and it helps maximize ball speed across the face – particularly on toe strikes.

QuantumCOR now features PXG’s fastest and softest polymer ever for maximum energy transfer and ball speed for the best performance yet from the 0311 series.

It works in harmony with Deep Core Recoil Technology, which is located behind the face for better deflection and ball speed even on off-center strikes.

The 0311 T GEN8 irons are available in 3-iron (20 degrees) to Gap Wedge (51 degrees).

PXG 0311 P GEN8 Irons Specs & Design

The 0311 P bridges the gap between tour precision and distance performance with a mid-compact head profile that is slightly larger than the T model.

The players’ distance irons feature a moderately thicker topline and offset, approximately a 74mm blade length and progressive setback weighting through the set and moderate sole camber for turf versatility.

The construction mirrors the T with five-times forged 8620 soft carbon steel body and robotic polishing for consistency with the classic PXG look.

PXG 0311 P GEN8 Irons

It features the new Dual Perimeter Weighting System with adjustable tungsten weights at extreme perimeter positions – and they can be interchanged for fade or draw bias.

A fixed 25g tungsten mass (5g heavier than T model) in the toe area further enhances forgiveness and provides stability for mid-handicap players as well as maximize ball speed on off-center strikes.

The P model has increased QuantumCOR volume compared to GEN7 and it is located lower in the cavity for optimal CG placement and as a result explosive ball speed across a wider hitting area.

The variable ultra-thin face construction of HT1770 Maraging Steel Face provides workability as well as ball speed consistency across the face with optimized energy transfer from the Deep Core Recoil Technology in the cavity.

The 0311 P GEN8 irons are available in 4-iron (20.5 degrees) to Gap Wedge (49 degrees).

PXG 0311 XP GEN8 Irons Specs & Design

The XP is PXG’s game-improvement offering in the series and the most forgiving to suit mid to higher handicap golfers.

The hollow-body construction has allowed PXG to add extreme internal design flexibility while maintaining five-times forged 8620 carbon steel body for premium feel.

This model has the widest sole of the series for turf interaction, the longest blade length at 76mm for confidence at address and maximum offset and topline thickness for launch assistance.

But significantly it maintains a more compact appearance than traditional super game-improvement designs and a more pleasing on the eye look.

PXG 0311 XP GEN8 Irons

Like the rest of the GEN8 range, the Dual Perimeter Weighting System is key with the XP having adjustable perimeter weights for maximum forgiveness and dispersion control that mid-to-high handicappers need.

The design delivers the highest MOI in the lineup through extreme perimeter mass positioning and enables significant CG tuning to correct ball flight tendencies and reduce slices or hooks as well as optimize launch.

QuantumCOR Polymer Technology is part of the hollow-body XP design for the greatest QuantumCOR volume of all three models. Positioned optimally low and deep, it creates exceptional soft feel and maximum energy transfer.

It has the deepest internal cavity and maximum face-to-core spacing of the series, and PXG have used that to deliver explosive face flexion for maximum ball speed even on extreme mishits, high launch angles and soft landings despite reduced spin.

Like the other models, it has an ultra-thin HT1770 Maraging Steel Face that has aggressive Power Channel geometry to maximize deflection across the entire hitting area.

In the XP, a fixed 15g tungsten slug – the lightest of three models – enhances toe-strike performance and creates the highest total MOI in the lineup and most forgiveness.

The 0311 XP GEN8 irons are available in 4-iron (18 degrees) to Gap Wedge (47 degrees).

PXG 0311 GEN8 Irons Review: Are they any good?

The 0311 T GEN8 is arguably the standout, combining a compact, clean profile with MOI numbers that rival or beat many larger heads when it comes to consistency and dispersion.

The P Players Distance model is simpler in looks and impress for solid ball strikers chasing added distance in their iron game. They are a fast, forgiving iron and can be blended with T long irons in a combo set.

For higher handicap golfers, the 0311 XP provides all the help you need with launch, distance and mishits but still in that forged package. It is a genuinely high‑performance game‑improvement choice for 2026.
