Fowler had dropped out of the world top 50 after a poor run of form, but he has discovered that on the PGA Tour this year.

Fowler was rewarded as he won a play-off with Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin to lift the Rocket Mortgage Classic title at Detroit Golf Club.

The trio finished on 24-under par for the week and it was Fowler’s birdie at the first extra hole that settled things.

It was a sixth PGA Tour win for Fowler and his first since successful in the 2019 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Prior to that, Fowler won the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship, the 2015 The Players Championship, 2015 Deutsche Bank Championship and 2017 The Honda Classic.

Fowler was ranked 35th in the Official World Golf Rankings prior to the win. He moved up to 23rd on the back of the victory.
