Theegala is a rising star on the PGA Tour but had not made a breakthrough win in singles event since making his debut in 2000.

The American ended the search for a win when recording a two-shot victory over SH Kim in the Fortinet Championship in his native California.

Theegala finished on 21-under at Silverado Golf Resort with a stunning putting performance on the greens behind his maiden success.

Theegala had tasted victory as a professional previously when teaming up with Tom Hoge to win the QBE Shootout event in December 2022.

The victory in the Fortinet Championship moved Theegala up to 29th in the Official World Golf Rankings from 37th.
