Sam Burns: What’s In The Bag

Sam Burns Bag

Sam Burns landed the biggest win of his career and moved into the world top 10 with victory in the WGC Match Play in March 2023. A look at Sam Burns: What’s In The Bag.

Burns produced a stunning week at Austin Country Club in Texas before beating Cameron Young 6&5 in the final of the WGC Match Play.

The American beat Adam Hadwin, Adam Scott and Seamus Power to top his group, then defeated Patrick Cantlay, Mackenzie Hughes and Scottie Scheffler en route to the final.

The victory moved Burns from 15th to 10th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He previously reached a career high of ninth in 2022.

It was 10 months since Burns lasted the most recent of his four PGA Tour victory with a stunning play-off win over Scheffler at the Charles Schwab Challenge in May 2022.

It was Burns’ second win of the 2022 season after he went back-to-back in the Valspar Championship in March, which he also won at Innisbrook Resort in 2021.

Burns also took victory at the Sanderson Farms Championship in the same 2021 season.
