Srixon ZX7 Mk II Black Chrome Irons Specs & Design

Srixon made the ZX7 Mk II irons more compact that the original model, focusing on improving the feel and performance off the face, and that continues into the Black Chromes too.

The second generation ZX7s have a thinner topline and a narrower sole to create that more compact clubhead and have been given a stunning Black Chrome finish in the model.

The new irons are crafted from the latest single piece forged 1020 Carbon Steel and offer players’ performance and workability than before.

The iron itself now features a new PureFrame ridge behind the sweet spot, which is 80% thicker and than any other part of the clubhead, for improved ball striking.

Also helping to deliver cleaner strikes is the new Tour V.T. Sole, which has a higher bounce on the leading edge to stop irons digging into the turf as much.

The new design also features wide grooves on the longer irons (4-iron to 7-iron) while the grooves are deeper in 8-iron to wedges for more spin and control on approach shots.

The irons are available in 4-iron (22 degrees), 5-iron (25 degrees), 6-iron (28 degrees), 7-iron (32 degrees), 8-iron (36 degrees), 9-iron (41 degrees) and Pitching Wedge (46 degrees).

Srixon ZX7 Mk II Black Chrome Irons: Are they any good?

Srixon have worked hard at improving the performance of the ZX7s to offer a more workable iron that the original version of this model and that also comes through into the Black Chrome edition.

The perfect option for low-handicap golfers, the more compact clubhead in the ZX7 Mk II is more pleasing on the eye and provides improved turf interaction and ball striking.

“New ZX Mk II Black Chrome Irons are a culmination of fast and pure. A pure feeling at impact, for purer strikes, and a pure sound. With tech-driven ball speed in every number, energizing every shot.

“The PureFrame ridge is forged into the body of the Iron – just behind the sweet spot – as an 80% thicker portion of 1020 Carbon Steel.

“Strategically placed right where you strike the ball, the result is a remarkably soft yet solid strike that doesn’t sacrifice any of ZX7’s famous tour-caliber workability.

“Our dynamic Tour V.T. Sole helps maintain clubhead speed through impact for clean strikes across fairway, rough and sand – even if you contact the turf slightly behind the ball.

“A higher bounce on the leading edge prevents digging; then, a lower bounce on the trailing edge curves away from the turf, so you can still manipulate face angle for maximum workability.

“The 4i-7i feature wide grooves, ideal for longer shots in all conditions. The 8i-AW have deeper, closer set grooves which cut through grass and debris to enhance spin on approach shots.

“Laser milling between each groove, on every loft, enhances friction in all conditions. The result is congruency across the set, as spin, distance, and launch window remain as consistent as possible.”
