TaylorMade Stealth DHY Review

TaylorMade Stealth DHY

The TaylorMade Stealth DHY is new for 2022 with the Driving Hybrid joining the Stealth range. How does it compare vs the SIM DHY hybrid?

TaylorMade successfully launched the DHY as an ideal option for golfers looking for an option to bridge the gap between irons and hybrids at the top end of the bag.

Having previously been part of the SIM range, the Driving Hybrid is now part of the Stealth range of clubs that were launched in 2022 featuring a new driver, woods, rescues, irons and UDI driving iron.

What TaylorMade says about the new Stealth DHY:

“Whether it’s a tight tee shot or reaching a par 5 in two, you need confidence that your club of choice will fly like you envision.

“Introducing the all-new Stealth DHY, powered by SpeedFoam Air for mid-to-low launch, easy distance, and enhanced forgiveness.

“Designed for power and forgiveness, Stealth DHY delivers a mid-to-low ball flight with distance properties that rival traditional hybrids in an iron-like profile.

“Don’t guess what you can measure. By knowing how far you hit your longest iron and shortest fairway wood, you can determine the precise distance gap at the top of your bag. This is where DHY lives, helping you close the gap at a critical phase of your set.”

TaylorMade Stealth DHY Design & Features

The latest generation of the Driving Hybrid is the Stealth DHY, complimenting the UDI to create alternative options from the tee, fairways and greens.

The design tweaks in the DHY compared to the SIM model have resulted in a longer blade length, wider cambered sole, a rounded heel toe radius and a low profile clubhead at address.

The hybrid is constructed from an ultra-thin forged 4140 face and features a flexible face with Inverted Cone Technology and a Thru-Slot Speed Pocket

The SpeedFoam Air is now 69% less dense than the previous UDI and TaylorMade have moved the weight saved to produce an improved launch angle.

The DHY has a consistent, penetrating low ball flight thanks to the CG being positioned low, a large sweet spot for maximum distance and is incredibly playable and forgiving.

Verdict: Is the TaylorMade Stealth DHY any good?

The DHY was well received when launched in the SIM range and the driving hybrid has been perfect further in the latest model.

Improved weighting, a larger sweet spot for maximum distance even on off-centre strikes, and a small profile make this a much-improved performer.

If you are in search of a long iron or hybrid, you can combine the two into one with the DHY, which is impressive whether used from tee, fairway or even the rough.
