TGL Golf Format

Each match consists of thrilling head-to-head competitions and alternate-shot formats, promising an engaging spectacle for both live audiences and viewers at home.

TGL’s format consists of 15 holes per match, divided into two sessions:

Triples (9 holes): Teams of three players compete in an alternate-shot format.
Singles (6 holes): Each player faces off head-to-head in a rotating format.

Each hole is worth 1 point, with ties earning no points. The team with the most points at the end wins. If tied, a closest-to-the-pin competition determines the winner.

Teams earn points similar to hockey: 2 points for a win, 1 point for an overtime loss, and 0 points for a regulation loss.

Changes For 2026 TGL

TGL Season 2 will see a number of changes including bigger and more challenging green with more holes, revamped bunkers, team-branded holes and larger playing areas.

The most significant upgrade involves the GreenZone, TGL’s indoor putting and short-game area with the putting surface expanded by 38% and now covering 5,270 square feet.

Along with the enlargement of the GreenZone, the number of hole locations on the green has increased from seven to 12 and allows for greater variety of holes.

Bunker layouts have also been revised with one small bunker removed and the two remaining sand traps enlarged by 50%, while the hitting boxes have been enlarged to provide players more space.

Each of the six teams in TGL Season 2 will also now have a designated “Team Hole” – one of the six holes from Season 1 that have been customized to represent their home course environments.

This change is designed to give teams a unique advantage on familiar holes where they performed well in the inaugural season.
