Nico Echavarria secured his maiden career victory when winning the Puerto Rico Open in March 2023. A look at Nico Echavarria: What’s In The Bag.

With the main PGA Tour field playing in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, Colombian Echavarria took advantage of the lesser field in Puerto Rico to land a first title.

A four-under par final round at Grand Reserve Country Club saw Echavarria finish on 21-under at the Puerto Rico Open, two shots clear of Akshay Bhatia.

The win earned Echavarria a spot in The Players Championship.

Echavarria had missed the cut in eight of his previous 10 starts in the current PGA Tour season.

Having turned professional in 2017, the Colombian won titles at the San Luis Championship and Sao Paulo Golf Club Championship in 2018 on the Latinoamerica Tour.

Victory in the Puerto Rico Open saw Echavarria jump up to 287th in the current Official World Golf Rankings from 406th.
