Titleist GT280 Mini Driver (Review of the 2025 Launch)

Titleist Gt280 Mini Driver Review

Titleist have launched a first mini driver after unveiling the new GT280 as a 2025 addition to the GT family. How does the mini driver work?

The GT series of drivers have been well received since launching in 2024 and the GT2, GT3 and GT4 now have a sister model in the shape of the GT280.

The launch marks Titleist’s first foray into the fully fledged “mini driver” market, following on from TaylorMade’s Mini BRNR and Callaway’s AI Smoke Ti 340.

Titleist did introduce what was known as the TSR 2-Wood Mini Driver in 2024, but the GT280 represents the first official model in this sector from the brand.

Titleist GT280 Mini Driver Specs & Design

The GT280 was revealed at the end of December 2024 ahead of debuting at the 2025 PGA Tour season opener at the Tournament of Championship, and it officially launched in April 2025.

The 280cc Head Volume of the Mini Driver is smaller than a traditional driver but larger than fairway woods, providing a balance between control and distance.

The Mini Driver is made from a Proprietary Matrix Polymer (PMP), a lightweight composite saves weight and lowers the center of gravity (CG).

The lightweight nature of the GT280 means you can generate enhanced ball speeds as well as stability and optimal launch conditions along with Titleist’s signature sound and feel.

A Titanium face insert known as Forged L-Cup Face wraps around the bottom of the clubhead to improve ball speed and spin consistency on low strikes.

It also features interchangeable weights (11g rear and 3g front in stock configuration) for customizable launch angles and spin rates.

Moving the heavier weight forward lowers spin and creates a penetrating ball flight, while positioning it at the back increases stability and higher launch.

The Mini Driver comes with a 13-degree loft as standard and is fully adjustable to 16 different loft and lie settings via the standard Titleist SureFit hosel.

At 43.5 inches, it is two inches shorter than standard drivers, offering better control without sacrificing significant distance.

Titleist GT280 Mini Driver: Is It Any Good?

The GT280 bridges the gap between drivers and fairway woods and is an excellent secondary option for golfers who prefer a smaller head size or need a reliable “fairway finder” when their driver is inconsistent.

Mini drivers have proven incredibly popular as an alternative option to fill the void at the top of the bag and is an excellent addition.

The new launch is designed for better performance off the turf and low-center impacts and it certainly delivers. It is also suitable for use off the deck, making it highly versatile when added to the bag.
