The Open de France was first formed in 1906 as a national championship and has been part of the DP World Tour since 1972 with the exception of 2020 and 2021.
For the 2025 DP World Tour season, the French Open moves from Le Golf National, which had staged the tournament since 1991, across Paris to Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Breteche.
It is the first time that Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Breteche has staged the Open de France since 1982.
Dan Bradbury is the reigning champion after winning the tournament in 2024 at Le Golf National, and is among the betting odds favourites for the 2025 Open de France.
Other former winners include Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Sandy Lyle, Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Costantino Rocca, Retief Goosen, Sam Torrance, Colin Montgomerie, Jose Maria Olazabal, Martin Kaymer, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Graeme McDowell, Tommy Fleetwood, Guido Migliozzi and Ryo Hisatsune.

Open de France Golf Format & Schedule
The Open de France golf will be played over four rounds / 72 holes at Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Breteche. There is a cut after the opening two rounds.
- Day 1 – Thursday, September 18
- Day 2 – Friday, September 19
- Day 3 – Saturday, September 20
- Day 4 – Sunday, September 21
The Open de France carries a prize fund of $3,250,000, the same as in 2024.
