The 2025 Irish Open takes place at The K Club from September 4-7 with a star-studded field headed by home hopes Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry.
The prestigious tournament is part of the DP World Tour’s Back 9 swing of the 2025 season and has once again drawn an elite field to the Emerald Isle.
McIlroy and Lowry are joined by the like of Ryder Cup team-mate Tyrrell Hatton, the in-form Marco Penge and America’s Patrick Reed as they all vie for victory.
The K Club in Straffan, County Kildare, Ireland, has previously hosted the Ryder Cup and will act as a final tune-up for some of this year’s qualifiers and picks.

Irish Open Leading Contenders
Rory McIlroy
Rory McIlroy is the clear favorite, returning home as world number two and a past Irish Open champion at The K Club in 2016.
He finished runner-up last year, losing narrowly to Rasmus Hojgaard, and is in superb form with three victories on US soil this season – including his sought-after Masters title – and is a lock for the Race to Dubai crown.
McIlroy’s combination of home support, course knowledge and momentum this year make him the man everyone is chasing at this year’s event.
Tyrrell Hatton
Tyrrell Hatton arrives in Ireland with top form, including securing a T4 finish at the US Open this season as well as the LIV Golf Team Championship.
Known for his emotional on-course persona, Hatton returns for his first Irish Open since 2019 and will look to bring his aggressive playstyle and links experience to the fore.
His ability to thrive under pressure and drive crowd energy could position him strongly for a run at the title.
Marco Penge
Marco Penge has established himself as a rising talent with two DP World Tour wins this year and is favorable odds for this week.
Penge’s power game and recent form make him one to watch, especially as he returns to The K Club with confidence building off strong showings in the season’s previous European stops.
His breakout potential against a strong field depends on his putter and composure in final rounds.
Shane Lowry
Shane Lowry is the local hero and sentimental favorite as he returns to home soil at The K Club and will be buoyed by raucous home support.
Recently off a runner-up finish at the Truist Championship, Lowry brings past experience in Ireland having famously won the Irish Open as an amateur in 2009 and captured The Open at Royal Portrush in 2019.
His experience, crowd connection and proven ability to perform under Irish pressure make him a prime contender if his game remains sharp.
Patrick Reed
Patrick Reed is another of the LIV Golf contingent in the field and brings big-tournament experience to the Irish Open.
Reed’s aggressive style and mental toughness have earned him a reputation as a perennial challenger in international fields.
After solid starts in recent majors, Reed will look to parlay his experience and short game acumen into a serious challenge on the K Club’s demanding layout.
