Looking for new budget-priced wedges and can’t decide whether to buy Lazrus or Kirkland wedges? We compare the two models and give our verdict.
We’re lovers of value for money here at GRG and both the Lazrus wedges and Kirkland wedges both fit the bill on that front.
Both rate highly as budget alternatives to the likes of Titleist’s SM9 Vokeys and Callaway’s Mack Daddy Jaws wedges, but how do you choose between two similarly priced options.
We have a comprehensive comparison into both sets of wedges, how the perform, the cost of each and provide our verdict on which edges it: Lazrus vs Kirkland.
Lazrus Wedges
Lazrus have come up with an impressive performing wedge that is premium in design but costs a fraction of the price of more well-known brands.
The wedges have a forged club head with a Micro Milled face for extra spin and control around the greens and in your short game.
You can expect a good blend of spin, control, forgiveness and versatility from across the set.
While the clubhead is premium forged, the steel shaft and the Lazrus standard grip don’t have the same high-quality finish you might expect.
Originally sold as a set with three lofts of 52 degrees, 56 degrees and 60 degrees, Lazrus have since added a 50 degrees, 54 degrees and 58 degrees set.
You can also now purchase individual wedges with silver, black or rainbow coloured club heads available and in both right and left handed options.
Pros: Excellent spin, Choice of three finishes, Great value for money
Cons: Very little not to like

Kirkland Signature Wedges
Sold by Costco under their Kirkland Signature brand, a top class wedge has been created and one that replicates what you might expect from more renowned brands.
The wedges feature milled face technology for control and spin, as well as wedge flex shaft by True Temper.
The set features a 52-degree gap wedge, 56-degree sand wedge and a 60-degree lob wedge, with the cost of all three roughly the same as one or two wedges in other elite brands.
The gap wedge features a D3 swing weight and 10 degrees of bounce. The sand wedge also has 10 degrees of bounce, but has a D4 swing weight. The lob wedge has a D4 swing and 8 degrees of bounce.
The set is only available in right hand and can be purchased from Costco.
Pros: Incredible value, Excellent spin
Cons: Only three set lofts, Only available in Chrome, Only available in right-hand, Only sold via Costco

Verdict: Lazrus vs Kirkland Wedges – Which is Better?
From an aesthetics point of view the Lazrus wedges don’t particularly stand out as anything out of ordinary, but the neat, compact design is all about creating short game spin at a snip of the price of other wedges.
The wedges are perfect for all skill levels, not just elite players looking to add more spin, and match 99% of golfers.
The Kirkland wedges also cater for the vast majority of golfers but they have more limitations in terms of lofts and availability compared to the Lazrus model.
The Kirkland set comes with 52, 56 and 60 degree lofts, so if you are in the market for different gapping you will be left disappointed. Also slightly more expansive, the Lazrus’ just have the edge in all key comparisons.
