Ping iDi Irons (NEW 2025 Driving Iron Launch Reviewed)

Ping iDi Irons Review

The Ping iDi irons have been launched as a new 2025 long game model and the successor to the iCrossovers.

The new iDi irons join by the freshly designed i240 irons, which are also new for 2025, and are designed as a reliable option for tee shots and long approaches.

The new driving irons replace the iCrossover irons as the go-to option at the top end of the bag and offer versatility, distance and control and an alternative option to woods or hybrids.

The iDi irons complement Ping’s existing i-series lineup including the i210 irons, i230 irons, i500 irons, i525 irons and i530 irons as well as the Blueprint model.

Ping iDi Irons Specs & Design

The Ping iDi Driving Iron has been created to deliver a blend of distance, control, forgiveness and feel and is generally suited to better players seeking a long-iron replacement.

The clubhead is both deeper front-to-back and shallower in face height than previous long irons from Ping, including a shorter heel-to-toe length and a flatter lie angle for better shot-shaping capabilities.

The irons are crafted from a multi-material construction including a thin, forged C300 maraging steel face that flexes at impact to generate faster ball speeds and longer distances.

Ping have combined that with a compact 17-4 stainless steel body for durability and stability throughout the swing and a 15% higher MOI compared to previous models for added forgiveness.

In the new design, Ping has introduced inR-Air technology which a a patent-pending air pocket strategically placed behind the face that dampens unwanted vibrations and provides a softer feel at impact.

An integrated i-Beam structure is also included in the design of the clubhead to add rigidity and further improve sound and feel by reducing vibration.

The design combinations means the club’s center of gravity is positioned lower and closer to the impact zone for optimized energy transfer and ball speeds.

The iDi irons also produce a higher launch angle and better stopping power for better control than in the iCrossovers.

The iDi irons are available in 2-iron (17 degrees), 3-iron (20 degrees) and 4-iron (23 degrees) loft options.
