Titleist TS4 Driver Review

Titleist TS4 Driver

The Titleist TS4 driver has been added to the Titleist Speed range with the manufacturer deeming it an ultra low-spin option.

The TS2 and TS3 drivers have received acclaim far and wide, and now they have a little sister or brother that provides the same impressive distance but with less spin levels.

The TS2 is billed as “Straight. Speed” and the TS3 branded as “Specialised. Speed”. But the focus in the marketing of the TS4 is on the spin with the slogan “Low Spin. High Speed”.

NEW FOR 2022: Review of the Titleist TSR Drivers

What Titleist say about the TS4 driver:

“TS drivers have exceeded all our expectations both on tour and with golfers around the world,” said Josh Talge, Vice President of Marketing, Titleist Golf Clubs.

“When it comes to driver performance, TS has shown that it’s no longer a one or two-horse race.

“While we know most golfers find their best fit in a TS2 or TS3 driver, there is a percentage of players out there with distinct performance needs, such as aggressive spin reduction.

“TS4 is the ultra low-spin that still produces exceptional ball speed. If you want to hit it longer but are having trouble controlling spin off the tee, TS4 was made for you.”

Titleist TS4 Driver Design

The TS4 club head is slightly smaller in size and shape compared to the TS2 and TS3, with the key selling point being the fact it offers ultra-low spin.

Titleist TS4 Driver

Titleist have reduced the Speed Chassis to 430cc and used an ultra-thin titanium crown which is 20% thinner than the Titleist 917 drivers which preceded the TS range

The thinner crown is more pear shaped than in the TS2 and TS3 models, and the weight of the club head moved lower and more forward than in the other models. It is that design that has resulted in the reduction in spin levels.

There is a “thinner, faster face” – the fastest Titleist claim to have ever produced – with the Radial VFT (variable face thickness) helping to produce impressive ball speeds.

The TS4 drivers are available in 8.5 degree, 9.5 degree and 10.5 degree lofts, with Titleist’s patented SureFit Hosel allowing for 16 different loft and lie settings.

Titleist TS4 Driver Verdict

Titleist TS4 Driver

There is no doubting just how well the TS2 and TS3 drivers have performed since being launched, but they weren’t ideal for golfers producing high levels of spin from the tee.

The TS4 is the answer to that. The smaller club head and adapted weighting system has helped reduce spin levels to the lowest possible.

Golfers purchasing Titlest TS4 drivers can expect to find more fairways, have less sideways spin on drives and add distance to their game. What more could you ask for?
