McKibbin, who is in his rookie season on the DP World Tour, secured a two-shot win in the Porsche European Open at Green Eagle Golf Courses Nord Course.

The Northern Irishman, who hails from Holywood – the same place as Rory McIlroy, carded a three-under par final round to finish on nine-under for the week.

It was enough to see off the challenge of German pair Marcel Siem and Max Kieffer and Frenchman Julien Guerrier, who all ended at seven-under par.

McKibbin turned professional in April 2021 and his only previous victory came in a Minor League Golf Tour event in January 2022.

Prior to his win in Germany, McKibbin was ranked 335th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He jumped up to 162nd in the world after the win.
