Playing in the event in Hawaii on a sponsors’ invite, Hwang seized her moment with a stunning finish to lift the 2025 Lotte Championship title.
South Korea’s Hwang clinched victory with birdies on five of her last six holes at Hoakalei Country Club and finished one shot ahead of compatriot Hyo Joo Kim.
As an amateur, Hwang won significant events including the Korea Women’s Amateur Golf Championship and the Bitgoeuljungheung Cup to become number three in the world amateur rankings and first in Asia.
She turned professional at the end of 2022, joining the KLPGA and making an immediate impact including wins at the Daeyu Winia/MBN Women’s Open in 2023 and the Doosan E&C We’ve Championship in 2024.
Hwang also won the Taiwan LPGA Tour’s Foxconn TLPGA Players Championship in 2025.
