Anna Nordqvist has been appointed as the European captain for the 2026 Solheim Cup as the successor to Suzann Pettersen.
The 37-year-old three-time major champion succeeds Pettersen as the leader of Europe, who face the United States at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands from September 11-13, 2026.
Nordqvist has participated in nine Solheim Cups as a player since her debut in 2009, achieving 17 victories, three ties and 15 defeats in her 35 matches.
She has been part of four winning European teams and another that retained the trophy with a tie in 2023, and in 2026 will go up against US captain Angela Stanford.
In 2023 and 2024, Nordqvist served as a playing vice-captain under skipper Pettersen and now steps up to the captain’s role.

“I feel especially fortunate to be the Captain at Bernardus Golf,” said Nordqvist on her appointment.

2026 Solheim Cup
The 2026 Solheim Cup will be held at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, where Europe will aim to regain the trophy and claim their first victory in five years.
United States were 15.5-12.5 over Europe in the 2024 Solheim Cup played at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club.
