TaylorMade P790 Aged Copper Irons Review

TaylorMade P790 Aged Copper irons have been launched as a limited-edition version of the model, celebrating the manufacturer’s heritage in the 2024 release.

TaylorMade brought out the fourth generation of the P790 irons in 2023 with a number of enhancements from the original designs to extract even more performance.

A sleek P790 Phantom Black model was also released in 2023, and an Aged Copper version joins the series as a nod to the classic 1980s designs.

They feature an improved internal structure of the irons, optimized club head weight, centre of gravity and face but carry the copper look that has also featured in the TaylorMade BRNR Mini Copper driver launched.

The copper model has been added to the range for a limited time, with a vintage look, retro TaylorMade logo and a nod to day of old yet with modern performance gains.

The irons have a unique internal structure to ensure they are perfectly balanced, optimally weighted and bring out the best in your game.

They feature new thick-thin back wall construction, designed by AI, to help move weight and ensure the centre of gravity is optimized on every iron through the bag.

FLTD CG technology means the CG moves position through the set for a combined amount of forgiveness, accuracy and distance.

The longer irons have an improved launch angle, while the weighting now means the more lofted irons are more precise and offer better control.

TaylorMade have also made changes to the Speedfoam Air inside the hollow-body clubhead for a better feel and elevation off the face.

The Copper P790s also feature the now standard TaylorMade Thru-Slot Speed Pocket in the longer irons to provide increased face flexibility and maintaining ball speed and distance on low face strikes.

These P790 irons are available in 4-iron (21 degrees), 5-iron (23.5 degrees), 6-iron (26.5 degrees), 7-iron (30.5 degrees), 8-iron (35 degrees), 9-iron (40 degrees) and pitching wedge (45 degrees).
