TaylorMade Stealth Irons are new for 2022 as part of a major new launch. Are they a step up on the SIM 2 irons?

TaylorMade Stealth Irons Design & Features

TaylorMade have tweaked the SIM 2 Max irons (and taken inspiration from the P700 irons) with a number of changes, the most significant is a new Cap Back Design and toe wrap construction.

The new feature has allowed weight to be moved high in the toe of the club head to produce an “extremely low” CG for more distance, more forgiveness and an improved feel from fairways and rough.

The toe wrap construction has lowered the centre of gravity by up to 0.8 millimetres in the Stealth irons and resulted in an increased launch angle and a much higher ball flight.

The face is crafted from 450 stainless steel and has the sweet spot moved to ensure the greatest ball speeds from across the club head.

The club head also has an Echo Damping System, which has a soft polymer blend, for reduce vibrations and produce more of a forged feel from the Stealth irons.

Also present in the new irons in TaylorMade’s Thru-Slot Speed Pocket which also increases the flexibility of the face and ensures no loss of distance or forgiveness on shots low off the face.

The TaylorMade Stealth irons are available from 4-iron to lob wedge. There is a draw-bias in the longer irons compared to the mid-irons and a progressive reduction through to the short irons.

Progressive Inverted Cone Technology, which works in harmony with the Echo Damping System, is located heel-to-toe in the 4-PW of Stealth irons, while 360 Undercut Technology with stiffening topline ribs is used in the 4-7 irons.

Verdict: Are the TaylorMade Stealth Irons any good?

The Stealth irons are visually appealing and also an impressive performer, building on everything good about the SIM 2 Max range.

The new Cap Back Design and toe wrap construction has allowed by a shift in weighting and lower centre of gravity and the ball flight from the Stealths is impressive.

With a much more forged like feel to these new irons, TaylorMade have come up with a cavity back model with impressive forgiveness and there is little not to like.
