Thorbjorn Olesen claimed his first victory of 2023 when winning the Thailand Classic in February 2022. A look at Thorbjorn Olesen: What’s In The Bag.
Olesen shot weekend rounds of 64 and 66 to finish on 24-under par in the Thailand Classic at Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok.
It was a performance that earn the Dane a comfortable four shot victory over Yannik Paul in the DP World Tour event.
It was Olesen’s 14th professional win and his seventh DP World Tour success.
Having been off the course for more than two years due to an investigation into allegations made against him, Olesen returned to the DP World Tour in 2022.
He marked that return to action with a hard-fought victory in the British Masters at the Belfry in May 2022, winning by a shot from Sebastian Soderberg.
Olesen, formerly a Nike player but now with TaylorMade, ended on 10-under par after a closing round of one-over par, with an eagle-birdie finish securing him a dramatic victory.
He previously won the 2012 Sicilian Open, 2014 ISPS Handa Perth International, 2015 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, 2016 Turkish Airlines Open and 2018 Italian Open.
He won four times on the Nordic Golf League Tour between 2008 and 2009 and was also victorious in 2010 The Princess on the Challenge Tour.
More recently, Olesen also won both the 2016 ISPS Handa World Cup of Golf with Soren Kjeldsen and 2017 GolfSixes with Lucas Bjerregaard.
The win in Thailand moved Olesen from 127th to 92nd in the World Golf Rankings.
