TaylorMade Stealth Plus Driver Review (60x Carbonwood)

TaylorMade Stealth Plus Driver

The TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver is a new release for 2022 and breaks new ground as the first Carbonwood from the leading manufacturer.

The Stealth Plus+ is one of three new drivers from Taylormade along with the Stealth and Stealth HD models, and they are the first ever 100% carbonwood.

The Stealth drivers broke cover for the first time when spotted in the bag of Tiger Woods during the PNC Championship at the end of 2021 and are a major new driver for 2022.

TaylorMade Stealth Plus Driver Design & Features

The Stealth Plus driver and Stealth and HD are largely similar in design and profile, although the Plus+ model is the more adjustable of the options.

The Plus has the Speedpocket that was also part of the SIM2 drivers, has the fixed weight at the back of the sole from the SIM 2 and includes TaylorMade’s Twist Face Technology.

The “60X Carbon Twist Face” composite club face makes this the first time that TaylorMade have gone full on carbon and moved away from the traditional metal wood titanium face.

It features 60 layers of carbon and but is still 44% lighter than an equivalent titanium face. The face is also 11% larger than SIM2 and SIM2 Max drivers.

The one difference from the Stealth model is that the Plus+ has a 10g adjustable weight that allows this driver to be set up on a sliding scale from draw to fade.

The Stealth also features an adjustable hosel with lofts of 8 degrees, 9 degrees and 10.5 degrees. The left-handed option will be 9 degrees and 10.5 degrees.

Verdict: Is the TaylorMade Stealth Plus+ Driver any good?

The Stealth Plus is the successor to the SIM 2 Max and Max D models, offering the same adjustability but in one driver.

TaylorMade have gone to the path of introducing a carbon face in the Stealth drivers, and the composite faces won’t be for everyone – particularly as it produces a significantly different sound.

The Stealth Plus offers more adjustability than the Stealth and HD models and the setup can be honed to create the perfect balance for your requirements from a big stick.
