Rory McIlroy

The 2025 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship takes place at Yas Links from November 6-9 with a stellar field vying for DP World Tour play-off glory.

Rory McIlroy headlines the event, which is the penultimate tournament of the 2025 DP World Tour season, is the first of two end of season play-off event.

Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship Leading Contenders

Rory McIlroy

Rory McIlroy returns as the headline act in Abu Dhabi, seeking another marquee win after an exceptional season that featured triumphs at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Players Championship and Irish Open.

The world number two also won The Masters at Augusta to clinch his career grand slam.

McIlroy’s familiarity with Yas Links and dominance in the Race to Dubai standings make him the clear favorite, as he looks to lock up a record-equalling seventh Order of Merit title.

His ability to handle pressure and thrive in the desert conditions makes him the player to beat this week.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood enters the Abu Dhabi HSBC brimming with confidence after a strong run on the DP World Tour, including a recent win in India and a string of top finishes in the Middle East.

Fleetwood has a proven track record at this event, with a past tournament win and multiple top-sevens, including a close runner-up in 2024.

His ball-striking prowess and comfort in windy, coastal conditions at Yas Links enhance his chances for another strong showing.

Tyrrell Hatton

Tyrrell Hatton is a perennial contender at Abu Dhabi and arrives in solid form, highlighted by his consistency on the DP World Tour and a valuable win in Dubai earlier this year.

With a win, a runner-up and two other top-sevens in the past four editions of this event, Hatton’s sharp iron play and composure under pressure are likely to make him a key threat, especially with playoffs stakes at their highest.

Ludvig Aberg

Ludvig Aberg’s rapid ascent continues as he capitalizes on Ryder Cup participation to take his spot in the field.

After landing his second PGA Tour title at the Genesis Invitational earlier in the year and several DP World Tour top-10s, Aberg’s blend of length and recent links form could see him break through in Abu Dhabi.

Matt Fitzpatrick

Matt Fitzpatrick is one of a cluster of English standouts in the field. His tenacity and form across both tours have secured him as an in-form contender with a real shout this week.

Robert MacIntyre

Robert MacIntyre’s season has featured a number of high finishes and his record in links and desert golf environments should see him in with a shout if he finds rhythm early at Yas Links.
