Best Golf Courses In Belgium

Looking to play the best golf courses in Belgium? GolfReviewsGuide.com picks out the top courses to play in Belgium.

Belgium may be a small country in terms of size, it offers a wealth of golfing options with a summer season similar to many neighbouring northern European countries like Germany, France, Netherlands and Luxembourg.

Summers in Belgium do not get too hot, with the golf season is still fairly broad. You can hope to find a tee time at almost any time of the year but the best time for golf is April to October.

Belgium is home to some historic courses with those making our shortlist varying from several decades old to more than 100 years since opening.

We’ve picked out our five best golf courses in Belgium.

Royal Golf Club of Belgium (Arboretum Course, formerly The Old Course)

The Royal Golf Club of Belgium is located in Tervuren and is home to The Arboretum Course, which Seymour Dunn designed in 1905 when formerly known as “The Old Course.”

As the new name suggests, this is a course of the parkland-style with green scenery dominating the landscape, partly thanks to pine trees.

Golfers should expect wide fairways with oak, birch, cedar, elm, and willow trees outlining the course, which is currently private but there are some options for visitors.

The Arboretum course currently plays as a par-72 venue at a total length of 6,610 yards, making it accessible to all levels of golfers.

Royal Limburg Golf Club

Located in Houthalen-Helchteren, The Royal Limburg Golf Club opened in 1968 and has established itself as one of the country’s best venues.

The late Fred Hawtree designed the course, which is a public venue and plays as a par-72 with a total distance of 6,756 yards.

The course is an inland course, located not too far from either Germany or the Netherlands in the northeast section of Belgium.

The golf course is in a forested area of pines with relatively flat terrain, and was ranked among the top 70 in Europe by Golf World Magazine previously.

Royal Zoute Golf Club (The Championship Course)

The Championship Course at The Royal Zoute Golf Club is a par-72 challenge at a total length of 6,825 yards.

Located in the Knokke-Heist area of Belgium, H.S. Colt, a British architect, designed this private course in 1909.

Golfers should expect an environment with pine, birch, and poplar trees, but golfers will also find dunes and high winds testing them in a style that will resemble links courses.

The Royal Zoute Golf Club has a second course known as The Executive Course for golfers that are looking for an easier test or a multi-day stay in the area.

Koksijde Golf Club (Langeleed Course)

The Koksijde Golf Club opened as recently as 2014 in the Oostduinkerke area of Belgium and has impressed in a decade of the first tee shot being struck.

The Langeleed Course is a par-72 challenge at a total distance of 6,719 yards and was designed by Jeremy Pern as a links-styled course.

Despite not being precisely adjacent to water and links lands, the Strait of Dover and the North Sea both have shores that are very close by. The near-coastal setting offers challenges thanks to breezy conditions.

Set in the extreme western region of Belgium, the golf course is close to the Dunkirk and the French border.

A championship-level golf course, golfers that play the Langeleed Course should expect the highest European standards.

The golf club has an additional 9-hole course known as the Hazebeek Course. There are also practice facilities at this golf club.

Rigenee Golf Course

The Rigenee Golf Course, known as “Le Village,” is located in Villers-la-Ville, Belgium. The semi-private course is inland, roughly 50 kilometers to the southwest of Brussels.

Paul Rolin designed the course in 1982 while Bruno Steensels performed an update in 2014 with the course a somewhat rare par-73 with a total length is 6,718 yards.

Golfers should expect an 18-hole course with a lake, ponds, and bunkers that are either sand or grass.

There is a second course at this venue known as Le Chatelet, a nine-hole pitch-and-putt style course that’s more novice in nature.
