What Ping says about the G430 Irons:

“Your shot making and your confidence will be sky high with the G430, which combines a lower CG with stronger lofts and a thinner face that deliver faster ball speed and significant distance gains without compromising PING’s famous forgiveness.

“Faster Ball Speed from a proprietary heat-treating process which creates Hyper 17-4 stainless steel and strengthens the face, allowing for more flexing, generating faster ball speed and a higher max height to hold shots on the green.

“An innovative new PurFlex Technology badge with seven flex zones allows for more free bending to increase ball speed across the face for longer results.

“In combination with a lower CG, the badge contributes to the solid feel and pleasing impact sound.

“The more compact shape provides a clean look. The shorter hosel helps lower the CG and align it with the force line to increase ball speed and ensure solid impact, especially low on the face.”

Ping G430 Irons Specs & Design

The Ping G430 irons are the latest generation of the manufacturer’s most popular model, offering improved forgiveness and reliability from tee to green.

Ping G430 Irons

Ping have made some notable changes from the G425 to unleash more speed from the new arrivals, with a new face design 3% thinner than the previous model, an expanded sweet spot and 2mph increase in ball speed.

Ping have added technology known as Purflex Cavity, which improves flexibility in the irons to create greater ball speeds from seven zones of the stainless steel club head.

The deep cavity back in these irons has been re-engineered with a larger badge than in previous models helping to create more that flex as well a reduce spin and improve acoustics.

The tweaks in design has allowed Ping to lower the CG and add shorter hosels to this model. That, along with toe and tip weighting, creates more ball speed from strikes lower on the face.

An additional one degree of bounce has been added to improve ball striking and turf interaction of these irons, which feature a Hydropearl 2.0 chrome finish ensures consistent performance in all conditions.

The irons are available in 4-iron (19 degrees) to pitching wedge (41 degrees), as well as four other milled-face wedge options (45.5 degrees, 50 degrees, 54 degrees and 58 degrees).

Verdict: Are Ping G430 irons any good?

The new G430 irons are an interesting new addition to the market. Are they an improvement on the G425s? That is the big question.

Yes they are. The key to the latest release is more flex and ball speeds from this model and the design changes certainly deliver that with an increase of 2mph.

The lofts in the G430s are stronger than in the G425 so you can expect distance gains, and there is more forgiveness from across the face and from the reshaped bounce too.
