Straka shot a stunning closing round of 62 – including a double bogey at the 18th hole – to win the John Deere Classic by two shots from Brendon Todd and Aaron Smalley

Straka finished on 21-under par for the week at TPC Deere Run to give his hopes of making the European Ryder Cup team a big boost.

In February 2022, Straka recorded a one shot victory over Shane Lowry in the Honda Classic at the PGA National to become the first Austrian to win on the PGA Tour.

Straka’s only other professional victory came on the Korn Ferry Tour when winning the KC Golf Classic in 2018 prior to gaining his PGA Tour card.

The latest victory moved Straka up to a career-high number 27th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
