Honma TR20 Irons Review (TR20 P vs TR20 V)

Honma TR20 Irons

Honma TR20 irons come in two models – the TR20 P and the TR20 V – and are eye-catching modern blades with cavity backs.

Honma has used a blade-like profile to craft both models with the design process being focused on creating an ideal trajectory from both the TR20 P – the more standard version – and TR20 V irons, which is for better level players.

Strong lofts are accompanied by a playable cavity and sole to ensure maximum distance from the TR20 irons without hurting any forgiveness that golfers are looking for in their irons.

Honma TR20 P Irons Review

The TR20 P irons are known as the Players’ model and are the version aimed at the vast majority of golfers from mid-to-low handicapper to high handicappers.

The P irons have a player-shaped chassis that has been design with speed and distance as the ultimate goal, as well as a great deal of feedback from every strike.

A blade in looks, the forged multi-material irons are actually cavity back in design and offer incredible a high-launch with some serious distance off the face.

The face is a thin construction L-Cup design and combines perfectly with the deep pocket cavity and tungsten sole weighting for a truly balanced iron that is high in MOI and low CG.

Honma TR20 V Irons Review

The Honma TR20 V irons are tour-level performers that are handcrafted one-piece forged using the highest quality soft carbon steel.

The V model has a smaller, more compact club head compared to the TR20 P, and they are all about offering precise feel and distance control with consistent ball speeds.

An eye-catching blade in looks, the TR20 V irons are a modern, cavity-based design with a thin topline for a classic look at address.

Honma have lowered the CG in the V irons and increased the launch angle for more carry from long irons to short irons.

The lofts in the TR20 V are stronger than the P, to maximise distance gains from this model.

Verdict: Are Honma TR20 Irons any good?

The TR20 irons really catch the eye, offering a stylish look along with performance gains when it comes to both distances and accuracy.

These irons include improvements in the game such as playability, performance, head-shapes and ball striking with the hollow cavity back in the blades the key design elements.

The P is the model of choice for the majority of golfers, but the V irons are an ideal choice if you are an elite performer.
