What Scotty Cameron says about the Phantom X 2022:
“Designed with feedback from touring professionals – and validated with multiple victories around the world in 2021 – the new 2022 Phantom X mallets further express player preferences…
“…with features like precision milled solid stainless steel faces, sleek putter head profiles, refined alignment cues, high durability finishes, and specific shaft and neck configurations.Â
“Each new 2022 Phantom X putter is an integration of steel and aluminium, with nine of the 10 models engineered specifically with a solid, precision-milled 303 stainless steel face and body that’s expertly fused with a 6061 aircraft grade aluminium sole and flange component.
“The new Phantom X 12 employs an aluminium face/sole with stainless steel wings for maximum MOI, while its slimmed down flange section and extended alignment create a longer-looking, easier-to-aim update to the prior model.”

Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5 Putter Review

The Phantom X 5 is a traditional mallet in both looks and performance, but has the feel of a blade for the perfect combination golfers love.
The putter head features two wings to create a balanced flat stick. The X on the aluminium sole plate also provides perfect balance in the center of the putter.
The face is solid precision milled 303 stainless steel and produces the ideal roll on the ball whether from close range or distance.
The X 5 has a single mid-bend shaft, which focuses the eyes onto the dominant alignment line to ensure you have more chance of making those all important putts.
Scotty Cameron have pimped up this popular mallet to now include a premium Pistolero Plus grip combining decorative and non-slip textures in the new design.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5.5 Putter Review

The X 5.5 putter is very similar to the X 5, but the key design difference of this model is in the shaft, which is a small slant or what Scotty Cameron describe as a jet neck.
This model has been inspired by the prototype that Justin Thomas has had in his bag on tour, including when winning the 2022 USPGA Championship.
The X sole plate is self-centering sole in this model, while the weight has been distributed to the perimeter of the putter head to increased the MOI and improve forgiveness and stability.
The face is solid precision milled 303 stainless steel, while the sole plate is aluminium to help with the weight distribution.
The X 5.5 putter features the new Pistolero Plus grip.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 5s Putter Review

The X 5s putter also features the two wing design but has been given a slight makeover from previous versions of this model.
Ideally suited to players with a straight back and through putting stroke, this Scotty Cameron putter has a straight shaft and a milled topline sight line.
The design has been created to help keep the putter square through the stroke over any distance from a testing three footer to a lengthy putt from the other end of the green.
The X 5s is also face balanced with zero offset, has the precision milled 303 stainless steel face, the new center-balanced 6061 aluminum sole and stainless steel sole weights.
The X 5s putter also features the new Pistolero Plus grip.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 7 Putter Review

Scotty Cameron have left no stone unturned to eek out even more performance from the X 7 model, which has been redesigned in the new Phantom X range.
A popular option among tour players, the X 7 putter has been altered with longer and more angular wings than in previous generations.
Scotty Cameron’s tweaks have resulted in weight being moved to the back and perimeter of the putter head to aid alignment and forgiveness. The new milled sight line and white lines also help line up those putts.
The 303 precision milled solid stainless steel face is joined by a new center-balanced aluminum X sole to improve stability and forgiveness in the 2022 version.
The single mid-bend shaft produces a face-balanced putter that is easier to keep square through impact, while the new Pistolero Plus grip provides a non-slip grip.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 7.5 Putter Review

The sister putter to the X7, the X 7.5 model is identical in all but the shaft with this version having a small slant or jet neck design.
This shaft gives the X 7.5 a slight toe flow but otherwise the look and design is exactly the same as the X 7 model.
You get a 303 precision milled solid stainless steel face, new center-balanced aluminum X sole, sole weights, new Pistolero Plus grip and alignment features in this face-balanced putter.
The X 7.5 was first revealed when launched as the H21 Limited Proto putter, which was released in 2021 ahead of the Phantom X range being revealed.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 9 Putter Review

The Phantom X 9 has been given a new look, taking inspiration from both the X 11 and the X5 models in the range.
This is a putter offering a confidence inspiring look with the entire putter head in this new shape solid thanks to the wings and centre-balancing X joined by rounded aluminum flange-sole component.
The result is a fully “connected” mallet that is high MOI for forgiveness with a long alignment line, but that remains clean and compact while standing over a putt.
The X 9 has a precision milled 303 stainless steel face, adjustable stainless steel sole weights and a non-slip Pistolero Plus grip.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 9.5 Putter Review

Near identical to the Phantom X 9, the only difference is that the Phantom X 9.5 putter comes with a small slant or jet neck shaft.
The shaft promotes more of a toe flow than it’s twin, and the new X 9.5 comes into the range having been first released in 2021 as the Phantom X 9.5 Triple Black limited putter.
Just like the X 9, this model has the wings and centre balanced X design connected via a a rounded 6061 aluminum flange-sole with a large alignment line on it to help hole more putts.
Boasting a high MOI, the X 9.5 has a solid 303 stainless steel face, stainless steel sole weights to create an adjustable set up and a new Pistolero Plus grip.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 11 Putter Review

Scotty Cameron have given the X 11 a makeover, most notably with the new X sole design that provides a centre balanced putter with a high MOI for forgiveness.
The design of the 11 is very similar to both the X 5 and the new X 12 models, but notably the wings have been trimmed in this design and are joined by a “popped back” flange with optimal weight distribution, balance and feel what this putter is all about.
Scotty Cameron have added alignment-assisting sculpted mill marks accented with a single sight line.
The X 11 putter has a mid-bend shaft to keep the milled 303 stainless steel face straighter through impact, a 6061 aluminum flange sole component and stainless steel sole weights that allow for perimeter weighting.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 11.5 Putter Review

An near-identical twin of the X 11 putter, the Phantom X 11.5 differs in one aspect – the low bend shaft and the toe flow design for a more blade-like performance from a mallet.
Like the 11, this is a face-balanced model with a high-MOI and weighting from the customisable stainless steel sole weights to reduce rotating through impact.
The X 11.5 features the new X sole plate, a 303 stainless steel face, the same sweeping look and alignment aids as the X 11 and shortened wings compared to the rest of the range.
The X 11.5 is ideally suited to golfers with an arced putting stroke.
Scotty Cameron Phantom X 12 Putter Review

The X 12 putter has been redesigned and the combination of changes make it the highest MOI model in the Phantom X range.
More forgiving than ever, the large putter head provides even more confidence over the ball and is now easier to align than previous models.
The putter head now has longer look thanks to the altered wings, stability weights and elongated connecting flange and alignment lines never created this long before.
They combine with the 6061 aluminum face, stainless steel sole weights and the new centre-balanced X sole to create Scotty Cameron’s highest MOI mallet yet.
Verdict: Are Scotty Cameron Phantom X putters any good?
The Phantom X putters range has always been among Scotty Cameron’s best performing mallets and the new 2022 designs add further to the impressiveness.
The 11 models that already exist have been given makeovers to produce even more roll and precision to hole more putts on the greens. The new Phantom X 12 adds another dimension to the range.
While the performance is not in doubt, as with all previous Scotty Camerons these putters come with a hefty price tag and that rules out a good chunk of the golfing family from playing the Phantom X 2022 putters this season.
