Two months earlier, in April 2023, Yin became just the second Chinese player to win on the LPGA Tour when landing the title at the DIO Implant LA Open, joining the now-retired Shanshan Feng.

She underlined her growing reputation with a measured performance at Baltusrol Golf Club in the KPMG Women’s PGA with a closing birdie sealing a one-shot victory for her first major.

The Chinese talent ended a tough week on eight-under par, one clear of Yuka Saso in New Jersey.

Yin finished on 15-under par in the LA Open at Palos Verdes Golf Club in Los Angeles for a one stroke victory over Georgia Hall.

Yin Ruoning won nine times as an amateur in the junior ranks before turning professional in 2020.

She won the China LPGA Tour Qualifying Tournament to earn her place on the China LPGA Tour, and then won three titles in a row in her first events.

Yin was victorious at the Zhuhai Guowei Centre Plaza Hollywood Mansion Challenge, Moutai Golf Liquor Zhuhai Golden Gulf Challenge and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Orient Masters.

She earned her place on the LPGA for 2022 when finishing fourth in LPGA Q-Series.

Prior to victory in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Yin was ranked 25th in World Rolex Rankings. She moved up to the world number five spot.
